The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for leading GG+A’s proposal-writing team.  The core functions of the proposal-writing team are to:

  1. Develop high quality proposals -- quickly, efficiently, and proactively in cooperation with the consulting teams, and in response to market-driven RFPs.
  2. Partner with the GG+A Finance team to enable sound business development decisions based on financial modeling and project-based profitability.
  3. Work closely with the consulting teams to frame products and services that can be marketed and sold to GG+A’s diverse set of clients.

The BDM is responsible for tracking the complete proposal lifecycle, reporting on trends, identifying growth opportunities, and optimizing processes. The BDM supervises all the BD proposal-writers. The BDM also performs all job functions of a BD writer, focused primarily on the Executive Practice Area proposals.

Key Responsibilities:
Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversees proposal team inbox; assigns new proposals to the writing team
  • Tracks BD team workflow and availability; tracks all team deadlines
  • Supervises scoping process and proposal revenue tracking
  • Leads weekly team meetings with writers
  • Point person for BD Team interface with the Finance team; works closely with Finance to structure profitable projects, identify ideal capacity configurations, and maintain the fee matrix
  • Steward of proposal templates, core language, and presentation templates
  • Works closely with consultants to identify “products” that can become part of the GG+A suite of services offered to clients
  • Provides win/loss analytics, and drives the firm toward high-value market sectors
  • Writing Responsibilities
  • The BD Manager is the lead writer on the proposal team, which typically involves handling all Executive Practice Area proposals as well as other proposals as needed.  Responsibilities include;
  • Partnering with consultants to produce high-quality business proposals and sales presentations. This includes:
  • Conducting exploratory phone calls with prospective clients
  • Conducting scoping calls with consultants
  • Working with consultants to assign proposed project staffing and components
  • Drafting and revising project scope for consultant and finance team review
  • Drafting and revising proposals and sales presentations for consultant review
  • Maintains client reference lists and case statements; research on past projects
  • Conducts research on prospective client institutions and key personnel

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business, Communications, or similar discipline.
4+ years of proposal-writing and business development experience, preferably in a professional services firm.
