Information Technology Technician

Summary

The Information Technology Technician under general light supervision, provide technical software, hardware and network problem resolution to all firm computer users. Performing problem diagnosis and guiding users through step-by-step solutions where necessary; clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner.  Provide one-on-one end-user training as needed; troubleshoot network printer problems; pass more complex end-user problems on to Level 2 support. Conduct hardware and software inventory and reporting; and perform related work as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves Level 1 problems for users of the network, personal computer software and hardware, the Internet and new computer technology in a help desk environment; communicates solutions to end-users.
  • Provides one-on-one end-user problem resolution over the phone for firm approved Personal Computer (PC) software.
  • Delivers, tags, sets up, and assists in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems, PC hardware problems, e-mail, Internet, VPN, and local-area network access problems.
  • Coordinates timely repair of PC computer equipment covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Performs minor desktop hardware repair for PC computer equipment and peripherals that are not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Create materials for end-user frequently asked questions (FAQs).
  • Managing virtual / physical server infrastructure and maintenance schedule.
  • Embrace and utilize continuous improvement techniques to increase efficiency of internal processes to achieve best possible time and cost performance.

 Core Competencies

  • Basic networking knowledge
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2010, Exchange 2013
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2008, 2012
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Understanding of enterprise level Anti-Virus systems
  • Understanding of disaster recovery solutions
  • Familiarity with SharePoint O365 Administration a plus
  • Knowledge of VoIP phone systems and iOS and Android operating systems a plus
  • Familiarity with Mac OS X a plus

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related area of study or MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or equivalent.
  • One year providing infrastructure support for servers and workstations
  • VMWare experience preferred
